Teenagers need a lot of energy to study and cope with everyday tasks and activities both at school and home. What’s even more important, they still grow and their bodies change rapidly. For this reason, they require a good diet which is a balance of fats, proteins and carbohydrates. But do they really eat what is good for them? In this article we will examine eating habits of middle school students from Kraszewice.
Some students in our school eat good quality products which can be easily spotted by looking at what they have in their lunch boxes. Healthy sandwiches and fruit can be found there. Unfortunately, there is a large number of pupils who don’t mind eating junk food. They usually have unhealthy snacks such as crisps and sweets (especially chocolate bars). And for breakfast they choose sweet rolls or doughnuts. To make the matter worse, a students’ shop in our school offers only sweets, fizzy drinks and crisps. There isn’t any healthy food such as fresh fruit or fruit drinks. On the other hand, lunches at school are very healthy and tasty so everyone can find something delicious for himself or herself. We have only one course lunch and something to drink. But lunches offered by the school canteen are home-made and they contain everything a teen’s body needs. What’s more, they are cheap and cost as much as two sweet rolls.

Eating habits of the students are also influenced by the menu of a fast-food restaurant in our village. A lot of pupils from our school spend their free time there. They meet friends, relax and eat something. They can order hamburgers, hot-dogs or casseroles. The food there is yummy, but is it healthy?
To sum up, in our school and in the fast food restaurant we can only buy caloric snacks which don’t have any vitamins. Fortunately, the canteen offers hot and healthy lunches for students. It is very important to choose foods that contain a lot of vitamins and other nutrients. In this way we can grow well, avoid health problems in the future and stay fit and slim. |

People’s ambition was always to look nice and thin in order to be attractive, so that other people like them. Even though some things in external appearance are difficult to change, there are a few things people can do to keep fit. Take a look!
Being "fit" essentially means being able to perform well in a wide variety of physically taxing circumstances. For some people, it also means being able to "fit" into their favorite clothes, while for others, it's just getting in shape. Either way, if you find yourself running out of breath when doing simple things like walking up a few stairs or playing catch, it's time to improve your physical condition.
1. Get into the habit of thinking healthy. The key to stay in shape is not to overindulge in eating foods, consuming drinks and doing other activities that are not good. 2. Eat slowly. The more slowly you eat, the less you consume. It takes a while until the brain sends the message that you are full. 3. Vegetables and fruits are your friends. Okay this is a cliché; however, it is an important one to follow. They contain plenty of vitamins, minerals and dietary fibres whose deficiency can lead to plenty of illnesses and they are also useful for the right function of the digestive system. 4. Bread and starchy foods should be acquaintances. These foods, such as pasta and potatoes are a part of any good meal, but that’s where they should stay. They can go directly to your belly if you overindulge. 5. Find healthier snacks than sweets. Candy is delicious. It is among the greatest tragedies of life that candy is also bad for you. An occasional candy is fine; however, snacking on them is a terrible idea. There are plenty of alternatives, for example one wafer made of rice accompanied with cheese or carrot, cucumber and celery with ½ cup of cottage cheese. |
6. Drink water. Human beings are mostly water. Water allows you to stay hydrated; it is much healthier for you than coffee or soda. Beyond that, it’s also very healthy when it comes to exercising. First time exercisers should be careful to drink plenty of water, but we should also drink at least 8 glasses a day.
7. Find an active hobby you enjoy. It doesn’t matter what it is, whether it’s hiking, yoga biking, dancing, playing football or basketball, there is something out there for you to enjoy instead of sitting on the couch and playing video games or watching movies all day. 8. Walk to school, don’t drive. If you plan ahead of time, there is no reason why you can’t take some extra time to walk to school. It’s a good way to take off some calories and if you have company it is also a good way to have fun! 9. Keep track of your progress, and be proud of minor improvements. Don't be discouraged if you stop losing weight or if you have a few setbacks; remember that overall, you've put yourself on an upward trajectory and that's definitely something to be proud of. 10. Let your body rest. When you're giving your body a run for its money with varied physical activities, you also need to let it recover and renew by getting a sufficient amount of sleep. Determine how many hours of sleep you need in order to feel refreshed in the morning, then discipline yourself to wake up and go to bed at the same times on a daily basis. Hope we have helped you with this advice! |
