We went to Portugal and ...
I discovered many differences between Portugal and Poland. The first thing I noticed was the amount of food the Portuguese eat every day. I think they eat much more than the Polish, their meals last longer and finish very late in the evening. What’s more, the cuisine is very healthy. In Poland people eat a lot of red meat (especially pork) whereas Portuguese meals are dominated by fish, mainly cod.
I also liked the weather which is much warmer and sunnier.
The Portuguese turned out to be very warm and friendly. I was surprised by the way they greet a newly met person, their openness and spontaneity of expressing their emotions. Polish people are more reserved.
What’s more, I really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of lessons in the Portuguese school. It was an unforgettable experience for me to be the part of the international team and to discover Portugal.

When I found out that I go to Portugal I was very happy and a little bit worried at the same time. However, I wanted to go there and make new friends.
On the first day I met my host family. At first we didn’t talk too much but soon we were able to talk about everything. My host family was very friendly. They were so kind that I made myself at home with them.
At school I was treated as an old friend. I made a few friends in Portugal and we still keep in touch. When the time of leaving came I was so sad that I was crying. It was hard to say goodbye. I will never forget the time I spent there.

Portuguese people made a very good impression on me. They are nice, friendly and lead an active social life.
In the morning students do not eat breakfast at home. The breaks and lessons are much longer than in Poland. There are many sports facilities which are opened almost till midnight. What is more, they can always go for a swim in the Atlantic Ocean.
I will keep the memories of this remarkably hospitable country for a long time. It was the best time of my life and a great opportunity for me to overcome language barriers and develop friendship with students from other cultures and backgrounds.

Portugal is different from Poland in many ways. First of all, Portuguese students have much more freedom at school. They don’t wear school uniforms and there is not even a bell at school.
I was surprised by seeing young people smoking in front of the school building. At breaks they can leave the school and teachers do not supervise them . What is more, Portuguese students seem to be much more straightforward than pupils in my school. They are not so shy and make friends easily.
The houses are also different. There is no central heating and there are mosaics on walls. I did not know that Portugal is so mountainous.
