2012 - When we were in Greece...
Five teachers and three students were in Greece to participate in the second meeting of our project.
The food was fantastic and just so good! Souvlakis, Gyros, yogurts and salads were my favourite.
And of course the country is very beautiful. All de Greek art and buildings, the sea, the mountains… It’s everything amazing and very attractive. I miss Greece, I absolutely loved being there! Beatriz Ferreira |
I was a guest in Greece! I really loved being in Greece! It was an amazing experience! It was very strange in the beginning because I didn’t know the family who I was going to stay with, but then I felt as if I was home. The family was always very friendly and careful to me; they often tried to talk with me in English, which was very nice. I really felt like I was part of the family. I enjoyed knowing so many people from other countries, with many different cultures and other ways of living. They taught me many things, for example, the Greeks taught me a dance from their country. It was very funny! |
Have you ever been a guest in Greece?
I loved it!
One of the best experiences of my life was going to Greece as an exchange student in the Comenius project. I had already participated in Comenius, and loved it, but this was a completely different reality.
I didn't have to get used to a new reality - except, of course, that I had a guest at my house. In Greece, though, it wasn't quite like that: it wasn't a simple week as a tourist, it was a week as an exchange student, and many things changed. However, it was great in so many ways!
First of all, I had the chance to meet the country: the capital, Athens, and later, other cities. I loved going to all those places, because Greece is a country with a lot of history and, most of all, was one of the countries I most wanted to visit.
Then, of course, we had the family I stayed with. Many things were different and strange during that time, but every time I arrived home I felt like I was in my own house. I am truly grateful, because now I can say that I left two sisters, a mom and a dad in Greece!
And besides that family, I have many more in my heart. I believe that I made friendships for life. We'll always keep in touch!
The people were amazing, and very nice to all of us. Everyone in Greece was so welcoming! Not only the Comenius students, but also the people we had contact with every day…
Aside from the emotional part we also have the wonderful Greek culture. It was amazing to see that everyone there is so proud of their culture and rich history, and we could notice everywhere that the streets are still filled with History, they still preserve what they've built so many years ago.
I’m really thankful for being so lucky… I loved Greece!

I visited her school and met a lot of her colleagues. All of them were very nice and I actually made a lot of new friends. The activities we took part in were great fun I loved the whole experience and I would do it again. Saying goodbye, in the, was the hardest part but it had to be done. It was very nice to be with our teachers outside our normal school routine. They are fun people to be with. I will try to keep the contact and the friends I made in this program. I am curious to learn more details about other countries. We saw that their habits are quite different from ours. On the one hand in Greece people are more “relaxed” about the law. For instance, few people riding bikes wore helmets. On the other hand they all seem to be in a rush all the time. It was a very good experience and anyone that has the chance of doing an exchange program should do it. Carolina Freitas |
